Q: What was your first overseas Test match?
A: Melbourne December 26th 2002

Q: What is your most memorable overseas Test match you’ve seen?
A: It has to be Durban Dec 26th 2004. Met and helped form the Addis Army over the previous 3 days and I have never laughed so much at a game. So many stories, songs and memories. The game seesawed about and we were on top when bad light saved the Saffirs, but it didn’t spoil an amazing 5 days. It remains even more memorable as it was the start of some fantastic friendships.

Q: Who is your favourite current England player?
A: Joe Root. Fantastic all round batsmen and plays with a smile on his face. I hope the captaincy doesn’t spoil his enthusiasm and joy of playing.

Q: Who is your favourite England player of all time?
A: This may raise a few eyebrows but Ian Bell. He had the complete range of shots and was so naturally gifted and fluent. He was inconsistent and was (I think) unfairly labelled as a fair weather cricketer who didn’t perform when the pressure was on. He was flawed, but a flawed genius to me.

Q: Who is your favourite opposition player of all time?
A: Kumar Sangakarra. Poetry in motion. Left handers always look more elegant to me and Sangakarra had elegance in bucketloads. His cover drive was a thing of beauty, a masterpiece of precision and power. The Bangladesh captain Mushfaqir Rahim said of Sangakarra ‘ He is not only a wonderful cricketer but he is also ever humble and gentle human-being. He is obviously an inspiration. I couldn’t agree more. he was and is class.

Q: What is your favourite overseas Test ground any why?
A: This is a tricky one. Hagley Oval is the most picturesque, MCG the biggest, Mumbai the noisiest and Antigua had the best food and drink. However my favourite overseas Test ground is one I haven’t watched a match at…yet. Galle means so much to me after visiting it post tsunami and I finally get to see a Test there this November.

Q: Which country is your favourite to tour and why?
A: A few months ago I would have said Sri Lanka, but this winter has reminded me how much I love New Zealand. It is my favourite country in the world, so it has to be my favourite place to tour. My visits there are slightly tainted by time limitations and the distance to travel but on reflection this just means there is more to see and do each time I go. It is the best country to tour on non cricketing days by miles so it has to be number one.

Q: Of all the cities/towns you visited on town, which is your favourite and why?
A: Another tricky one but I will plump for Cape Town. Iconic ground, great food and drink at cheap prices, loads to do and see and plenty of sunshine.

Q: What is your most memorable non cricket moment on tour?
A: At the Mumbai Test 2006. The shaver running out of power with only the top portion of Wycombe’s bouffant shaved. Every time I see that picture I get the giggles.

Q: What do you enjoy most about touring?
A: The combination of the familiar and the new. Watching cricket with old friends whilst also travelling to new places and meeting new people, both locals and fellow fans.
