The only criteria for selection is you have had to have seen the player live in any format or level of cricket!
Alastair Cook – Runs scored speak for themself. Grew into the role as captain and now hes gone it is showing what a huge role he played.
Graham Gooch – Proper Englishman, proper player and runs speak for themself. Dragged an average team along with him at times.
Kevin Pietersen – A quiet and introverted guy, just went about his business with no fuss. One of the worlds finest at his best.
Joe Root – Yorkshireman, Sheffielder, Blade. The ultimate alpha male. If he stays injury free abd gets his form back will probably go on to break most English records.
Michael Vaughan – My captain. Although not a proper Sheffielder and worships at the dark side, a fine cricketer and his captaincy in 2005 went a long way towards us winning that series. Barring injury would have scored a lot more test runs than he did. Piss poor fielder though.
Alec Stewart – Wicket-keeper. Could probably get in my side as a batsman alone but also a top notch keeper. Always played with pride and carried himself superbly, always gave 100%.
Andrew Flintoff – at his best the finest all rounder of his generation. 400 runs and 25 wickets in the 2005 ashes against that convict side was an unbelievable effort and doesn’t get the credit it deserved. Mad as a box of frogs.
Graeme Swann – Don’t think that we have had that many great spinners. But Swanny played in an era of leggies and doosras and chuckers and mystery spinners, he was the best orthodox finger spinner of his generation.
Darren Gough – Played when we weren’t very good but always gave his all and played for the shirt. Yorkshireman.
James Anderson – Record speaks for itself. By the time he retires will have an unbelievable amout of Test wickets and will be a long time before it is over took by a quick bowler.
Stuart Broad – Got to have Broady in combination with Jimmy but also his record is up there with the best and sometimes gets overshadowed by Jimmy’s.
